Which African countries emit the most greenhouse gases?

The African countries that emit the most greenhouse gases are typically those with larger economies and industries. As of 2022, the top emitters in Africa are South Africa (primarily due to its heavy reliance on coal for electricity production), Egypt (its emissions are mainly from the energy sector, including electricity generation and transportation) and Nigeria (its emissions are significantly driven by the oil and gas industry).
