‘Disregard’ dodgy giveaway, says Samsung

A post on the Facebook page “Samsung World” claims telecoms company Samsung is giving free phones to people who apply for its promo. 

The page has more than 6,500 followers. Its 17 August 2019 “giveaway” post has already attracted more than 8,000 comments and 6,000 shares.

50,000 pieces of this phone are to be given to our active customers, you can win more than 2 to your self alone. All you have to do to win this phone is to type ‘SAMSUNG PHONE’ without interrupted.”

‘Disregard the promo’

Africa Check asked Samsung about the “giveaway” in the Facebook post. Samsung Support US told us the Facebook page does not belong to Samsung.
