Does leprosy spread through respiratory droplets and are face masks a preventive measure?

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), leprosy spreads through droplets from the nose and mouth during close and frequent contact with infected and untreated people. This can happen when a person with leprosy sneezes or coughs. WHO has recommended face masks to help control its spread.
