How does Nigeria’s obesity rate compare globally?

Adults with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or higher are considered to be obese. An estimated 8.9% of adults (18+) in Nigeria were obese in 2016.

Based on this internationally comparable rate, Nigeria was ranked 109 out of 143 rankings. (Because countries with the same rate are ranked jointly, there are more countries (191) than rankings.)
