What is the progress of coverage by the diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP3) vaccine in Africa?
The WHO’s 194 member states committed to no one missing out on vital immunisations, with a target of achieving 90% DTP3 vaccination coverage in all countries by 2015. Data from July 2017 shows that one in 10 children remain unreached by immunisation programmes. Of the eight countries with less than 50% coverage, six are in Africa. They are Central African Republic, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Somalia and South Sudan.
