Where does Ghana rank based on the human capital the average child can expect to achieve?
The World Bank’s Human Capital Index measures “the amount of human capital that a child born today can expect to attain by age 18”. It expresses this as a value between zero and one. An economy in which the average worker achieves both full health and full education potential will score a value of 1 on the index. The index is designed to highlight how improvements in the current education and health outcomes shape the productivity of the next generation of workers.
In 2021 Ghana scored 0.63 and was ranked 133rd out of 174 countries.
