Which African countries have the highest literacy rates?

Equatorial Guinea (94.2%), South Africa (93%), Seychelles (91.8%), Gabon (89%) and Mauritius (88.8%) had the highest literacy rates in Africa in 2015. One of the cautions with international literacy comparisons is that countries apply different definitions of what it means to be "literate". It also depends on how people are surveyed as well as the differences in the time period the data covers.
