Green Cape publishes annual market intelligence reports on greening initiatives in South Africa’s Western Cape province. The 2016 report focussed on greening primary agriculture production in the region.

The Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy is a network of 45 researchers from across Africa. It produces independent research-based market and policy analyses of the agro-food, fibre and beverages sectors. The BFAP Baseline Agricultural Outlook report (2018-2027) provides baseline food security and agriculture data.

The South African Chamber of Mines publishes annual statistics on production and safety in the country's mining sector.

The annual SA Mine report, produced by PwC, provides comparative data for South Africa’s mining sector. The findings are based on the financial reports of mining companies with a primary listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. The 2017 edition includes information on prices, production and market capitalisation per commodity.

The World Nuclear Association’s website provides information on uranium mining, nuclear energy generation and capacity in South Africa. It was last updated in August 2018.

Public domain data on renewable energy is often not entirely accurate or simply cannot be found. Often one has to contact renewable energy companies directly, although they may not be forthright with specs and data. This paucity of site and power station specs gave rise to the development of this online database of South African solar power plants.

The Energy Blog provides a summary of South African solar, wind and other renewable energy projects. However, data may not always be up to date.

A report by the Davis Tax Committee, produced for the minister of finance, on South Africa’s nascent oil and gas sector. It includes a review of the existing tax regime applicable to oil and natural gas production in South Africa, and was published in September 2016.

A report produced in September 2016 for the South African Petroleum Industry Association. It contains data on the petroleum industry’s contribution to the country's economy, and includes data on private and public sector investment and employment from infrastructure.
