Which countries in Africa rely most heavily on foreign aid as a form of welfare and social development?

According to the most recent statistics by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the five African countries that were the top recipients of official development assistance in 2019 were Ethiopia, Nigeria, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Tanzania.

The main donors were the United States, EU Institutions, the International Development Association, the United Kingdom and Germany.
