Are people with type A blood more susceptible to Covid-19?

A study, conducted by researchers in China, found that “people with blood group A have a significantly higher risk for acquiring Covid-19 compared with non-A blood groups”.

Their finding was based on a comparison of the blood group distribution in 2,173 patients with Covid-19 from three hospitals in Wuhan and Shenzhen with the distribution in “normal people from the corresponding regions”.

However, the study has not yet been peer-reviewed. It should be viewed with caution and not taken as definitive proof that people with blood type A are more at risk.
