What is the out of school rate for girls in Africa?

Girls are more likely than boys to never set foot in a classroom. According to UNESCO Institute of Statistics data, nine million girls of primary school age in sub-Saharan Africa will never get the chance to learn to read or write in primary school. In 2020, at the primary school level, just 66% of girls in Sub-Saharan Africa were completing their education. This amounts to roughly 20.2 million primary school aged girls out of school in Sub-Saharan Africa.
