Valdez Onanina has held this position since September 1, 2022. He began his adventure at Africa Check in April 2016 as a permanent contributor before successively being appointed to the position of researcher and community manager from July 2017 to February 2020, senior researcher and digital communications coordinator until February 2021, and then deputy editor-in-chief until August 2022. Valdez has a degree in journalism, including working for the Senegalese News Agency and Alerte Info News Agency. He was also an intern at the United Nations Information Center in Dakar. He holds a masters degree in media and communication from ETICCA Dakar and an MBA in political communication and influence strategies from Madiba Leadership Institute in Dakar. He has a keen interest in access to public information.
